Description (350 words max in 3 to 5 paragraphs)
Your Florence Semi-Private Walking Tour begins at Piazza della Signoria, an outdoor museum of history, where you will meet your LivTours expert guide. You will start your stroll through the medieval streets where famous artists like Dante, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and some of Italy’s most renowned artists once called home. As you walk and talk, you will soon be in Palazzo Vecchio where you will admire a replica of Michelangelo’s David, giving you a taste of what is to come later on in your tour!
On this semi-private tour, your next stop is on the renowned medieval bridge known by Italians as Ponte Vecchio, a vantage point for admiring the view of the Arno River. Your guide will make sure you have time to take photos in this charming spot or browse the local jewelry shops nestled along both sides of the bridge. Once you read to move on, your guide will walk with you to the very center of Florence, the Piazza della Repubblica, which once housed the Roman Forum, but today the square is lined with great cafes and a central meeting point for Florentines. This Florence walking tour is an ideal way to truly understand the many layers of Italy’s history from ancient Rome to Renaissance to modern day.
Next, it is on to the Cathedral of Florence, known by the locals as the Duomo. Take a moment to soak up the beauty of this icon of Florence with all it’s detailed decorative faces in white, green and red marble, while you learn about the talented architect Filippo Brunelleschi from your expert guide. Depending on crowds, you and your semi-private tour will enter the Cathedral to view the marvelous interior and the stunning frescos. No visit to the Duomo of Florence is complete without admiring the Baptistry, a small building just in front of the main doors to the Duomo. Take time to admire Michelangelo’s golden Gates of Paradise. These three ton bronze doors have been revered not just due to their sheer size, but thanks to the gold reliefs which serve to tell the story of the Old Testament – a truly unique Renaissance masterpiece.
This tour ends by visiting the gem of Renaissance sculpture – Michelangelo’s David. Made from one piece of leftover marble, this 17 foot sculpture was created when Michelangelo was just 29 years old. Your expert art history guide will then tell you stories of Michelangelo and his time in Florence, and how the Statue of David came to be.

ABOUT OUR 6 PEOPLE SEMI-PRIVATE TOUR POLICY
When you book a LivTours semi-private tour, you are guaranteed one tour guide per group of 6 people. Please bear in mind though that in order to accommodate traveling families and friends, we do on rare occasion make the exception of adding an additional one to two guests in order not to split groups who are traveling together. On that same note, you may find yourself on tour with less than six people. As we accept bookings in multiples of six, math doesn’t always work in our favor to help accommodate individual travelers and their families when on the same tour, so we hope you understand and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
